Welcome to Winston's, JJ's and Gracie's Pages

We want to thank all the wonderful people who have selflessly contributed to the care of our three gentle, loving, and beautiful animals during these difficult economic times.  Winston and Gracie are English Bulldogs and JJ is a French Bulldog.  As you know they have each recently experienced medical crises that together have completely sapped our financial resources.

! NEW ! T-Shirts For Gracie's Surgery !

Gracie is our nine year old English Bulldog. She became a part of our family at two years old. We were so fortunate that we were able to rescue her just in time. Her life had been filled with pain and torture. She had a collar embedded in her neck, worms, fleas and only weighed 30 lbs. She had also been abused by having her paw pads burned with cigarettes and her toe nails pulled out. We cringe to even think about the other abuse she might have been through. She had to be the most heartbreaking animal I had ever seen. After bringing her home and getting all of her needs cared for she has been nothing but a joy to our lives. She is super sweet and you would never know what she has been through if you met her today. She'd sit politely, while wagging her nub of a tail, waiting and hoping you would pet her on the head.

On Friday, July 31 Gracie became our continued trend of health problems. She hurt her leg and could not walk. After weeks of medication not working our vet said she had to see an orthopedic surgeon. Today, August 20, she saw Dr. Keller. She now has to have the bones cut into, rearranged and a metal plate put in her leg in order to be able to walk. (Other than that she is perfectly healthy). We found out she has osteoarthritis that will have to be managed with medication for the rest of her life. However, she must have this surgery followed by 12 weeks of healing time. The bad news is the surgery is going to cost between $2,500 - $3,000 and has to be paid in advance. Since we have been through everything with Winston and JJ during the last five months all of our resources are gone. We desperately need prayers so that Gracie can get her life back. She needs the surgery by next week (8/24 - 8/28/09) or sooner if possible and we don't have the means at this time. We will be doing all that we can to raise the funds. If you would like to help either by donation or prayer, we'd be most grateful. It destroys us to have to ask for more help, but we're so lost and numb at this point. This little girl doesn't deserve to go through more pain--she had enough during the first two years of her life.

I will be posting the surgeon's letter of assessment as well as the surgical procedure description to this page as soon as I can. Thank you for caring enough to read this.

Hugs,

Sharon & Nathan

Many Bullie Kisses,

Winston, Gracie & JJ
